Jenny Odell is an
Oakland-based artist and writer whose work frequently deals with archives, both physical and digital. Odell has exhibited work at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, the Google Headquarters, Les Rencontres D'Arles, Fotomuseum Antwerpen, La Gaîté Lyrique (Paris), the Lishui Photography Festival (China), Apexart (NY), the Pratt Manhattan Gallery, the Marjorie Barrick Museum (Las Vegas), and East Wing (Dubai). Her writing has appeared in Fusion's Real Future, Topic, and SFMOMA's Open Space. Odell has been an artist in residence at Recology SF, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Palo Alto Art Center, Facebook, the New York Public Library, and the Internet Archive. In 2015 she
completed a mural for Google's new data center in Pryor, Oklahoma. Odell teaches digital art and design at Stanford, and would spend 80% of her life in a library if she could.
